Little princess I have a planet, a pretty little one, but only belonging to me. There are good plants and also bad plants on it. The thing that bothers me most is the seeds of the baobab. A baobab is something you will never, never be able to get rid of if you attend to it too late. It spreads over the entire planet. It bores clear through it with its roots. And if the planet is too small, and the baobabs are too many, they split it in pieces. . So I have a habit of clearing it every morning before I heat my breakfast on my small volcano.
Aside from the baobabs, there are also some simple flowers which eave only one ring of planets. But from one certain day, I spot that a strange kind of seed began to get ready to produce a flower. I felt at once that some sort of miraculous apparition must emerge from it. But the flower was not satisfied to complete the preparations for her beauty in the shelter of her green chamber. She chose her colors with the greatest care. She dressed herself slowly. She adjusted her petals one by one. She did not wish to go out into the world all rumpled, like the field poppies.
It was only in the full radiance of her beauty that she wished to appear. Oh, yes! She was a coquettish creature! And her mysterious adornment lasted for days and days. Then one morning, exactly at sunrise, she suddenly showed herself. At that moment, I fell in love with her, with all my tenderness and enthusiasm. She told me that she was the unique all over the world. She is such a charming little girl that makes me want to protect her. I tend her carefully, chat with her all day and soon we became best friends. However, recently I have gradually generated an odd idea that I want to have a travel to other planets.
Though my life at home is relaxed and enjoyable, but there is one thing always appeals to me. Not very far from my home, there is a planet which is much bigger than mine. It is so colorful and seems very complicated. I want to have an adventure. Then I prepared to start off. On the morning of my departure I put my planet in perfect order. I carefully cleaned out my volcanoes. I pulled up, with a certain sense of dejection, the last little shoots of the baobabs. I believed that I would never want to return. But on this last morning all these familiar tasks seemed very precious to me.
And when I watered the flower for he last time, and prepared to place her under the shelter of her glass globe, I realized that I was very close to tears. “Goodbye. ” I said. Then I decidedly turned to the new world. I have a little flying saucer which can bring me everywhere in the space. When I landed the earth (an elder neighbor living in another small planet told me the name of it) and walked out of my saucer, I heard a voice in the distance: ” Mum! I saw a OF! Are there any aliens in it? ” But they didn’t notice me, and thus I knew that people here call me “alien”.
In front of me was a huge building which is signed like a castle. I walked into it but a strong man stopped me. “Oh, you are too young, like a little princess, you can’t have access into it, it opens only for adults. ” He said. But I’m curious about everything and finally I managed to enter. It is a place where the light is calumnious and the atmosphere is rip-rigorous and chaotic. I stood beside a young handsome man. He looked blink. “What are you doing? ” I asked. “Gambling. ” He replied automatically. “Why do you gamble? ” “Lack money. ” “Why do you lack money? ” “Shut up! You little baggage!. Dedicated that his eyes never seem to But why do you lack money? ” I would never give up asking if I have a question. “Because of gambling. ” He replied in anger. “The grown-ups are certainly very, very odd. ” I said to myself, and continued on my journey. I walked too busy street with people coming and going. Suddenly, I saw a poor man lying in the entrance of the subway. He was clad in rags and looks extremely sorehead. “What are you? ” I asked. “I’m a beggar. ” He replied in a weak voice. “What do you beg for? ” “living. I’m begging for a living. ” “But why do you look like dying? “Because people don’t want to give alms to me. They think I still have ability to work. ” “So why don’t you work? ” “Because I don’t want to move. Lying is comfortable. ” “But you’re going to die! ” “At least, it’s better than working. ” I got on a bus and the conductor told me that I don’t need to buy the ticket because I’m too little. I stood by an elderly person who is busy with writing something on a notebook. “hello? ” I said. “Three and two make five. Five and seven make twelve. Twelve and three make fifteen. Good morning. Fifteen and seven make twenty-two. Twenty-two and six make twenty-eight.
Twenty-six and five make thirty-one. Phew! Then that makes five- hundred-and-one-thousand, six-hundred-twenty-two-thousand ” He was so much occupied that he did not even raise his head at me. “six hundred twenty two thousand what? ” asked l. “Eh? Are you still there? Six-hundred-twenty-two thousand can’t stop . I have so much to do! I am concerned with matters of consequence. I don’t amuse myself with balderdash. Two and five make seven .. “Six hundred twenty two thousand what? ” I asked. You know that I never in my life had let goof a question once I had asked it. “six hundred twenty two thousand dollars! I’m counting my wealth. He denuded realized that there was no hope of being left in peace until he answered this question “And what do you do with the six hundred twenty two thousand dollars? ” “Nothing. I own them. ” muff own the them? ” miss! I deposit all my money to my bank account! ” He said with pride. “And what good does it do you to own so much money? ” “It shows that I’m rich! Is it. I want to become the richest in the world. ” “And that “That is enough. ” Said the elderly person. “This man,” I talked to myself, “reasons a little like my poor gambler.. “The grown-ups are certainly altogether extraordinary,” I said simply as I continued on my
During my following days on the earth, I met hundreds of businessmen, thousands of gamblers, millions of tipplers, billions of conceited men, and countless grown-ups. Finally, I passed through a beautiful, all a-bloom with roses. I gazed at them. They all looked like my beloved flower. “Who are you? ” I demanded, thunderstruck. “We are roses. ” the roses said. And I was overcome with sadness. My flower had told me that she was the only one of her kind in all the universe. And here were five thousand of them, all alike, in one single garden! It was then that the fox appeared. “hello? ” he said. Ell? come and play with me. ” I said. “l cannot play with you,” the fox said. “l am not tamed. ” “What does that mean “Just that,” said the fox. “To me, you are still nothing more than a little girl who is just like a hundred thousand other little girls. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world .. .” “l am beginning to understand,” said the little prince. “There is a flower I think that she has tamed me .. .” muff are beautiful, but you are empty,” I turned to roses in the garden and said, “One could not die for you.
To be sure, an ordinary passerby would think that my rose looked Just like you–the rose that belongs to me. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or ever sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose. ” “Goodbye, roses and my dear fox. I began to miss my flower. It is time to go home. ” I’m getting on my way.
But suddenly I found my flying saucer is missing! I’m at a loss, sat down and began to cry. At this time, a snake drew near to me. “My little prince,” he said, “Do you want to go home? ” “How do you know that? ” I choked, with surprise. “Because I’m also from another planet. I can easily distinguish aliens from the human beings. I was brought by a little boy who was Just like your age that time. But now he had already grown up. ” “Where is he now? ” I asked. “In a certain place on the earth, living with the human beings. ” He said, “Why do you want to go home? The earth is colorful, isn’t it? IIS, but people here are so strange,” I replied in sadness, “And I miss my rose so much. ” home Just from here? ” “Can you pick out your “No, it’s too small. But it is better, like that. Because I love a flower that lives on a star, it is sweet to look at the sky at night. All the stars are a-bloom with flowers .. .And I Just enjoyed my every night on the earth in this way. ” “You are such a kid,” the snake said, “l can take you home, but it will be a bit of pains. ” “It doesn’t matter. Just take me home. ” He looked at me with a complicated light in his eyes. Then he hung his head and tied me on the finger. At that kind of home, you can always hold and cherish you beautiful rose. You always know what you are looking for. You will never grow up. ” I know what he meaner. I look as if I were dead. But thank you, Mr.. Snake. Postscript: It’s easy to find that this essay is a twin edition of. I love that book so much that I always want to write my personal feelings down. And now the chance is Just coming. I rewrote the story but still preserved the spirit. < Little Princess> written by me, I know it’s much more simple and rough, but it Just reveals what Vive gotten from the original.
